The exhibition traces the rise of the kingdom of Macedonia against the Greek city-states, thanks to the political acumen of its rulers, the most famous of which was Alexander the Great. Some 500 pieces illustrates the history of ancient Macedonia from the 15th century BC to the time of the Roman Empire.

Exhibition retracing the evolution of the Forbidden City with a chronological itinerary relating to the great emperors who directed China from the middle of the 12th century to the middle of the 19th century. The 130 major works lent by China – paintings, vases, lacquerwork, ceremonial regalia, military outfits, calligraphy – put into perspective with emblematic figures of the history of Imperial China.
